The Albanese Government is seeking the views of researchers, consumers, industry, philanthropists and health service providers as part of reforming its investments in health and medical research.
The national consultation focuses on optimising outcomes from government investment through the governance and administration of the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Medical Research Endowment Account (MREA).
The consultation provides an opportunity for all stakeholders to share their views on ways the Australian Government’s funding can be governed and coordinated to best support Australia’s world-class health and medical research workforce to improve the health of all Australians.
Minister Butler and Assistant Minister Kearney will lead the consultation process, supported by the Department of Health and Aged Care and the National Health and Medical Research Council.
Public webinars will provide an opportunity to hear more about the process and ask questions. Written submissions can be made until 14 July 2023.
More information, including a link to the discussion paper, can be found on the Department of Health and Aged Care’s consultation hub.
