The Liberal National Government will contribute up to $16 million to develop a new multi storey carpark at Redlands Hospital that will help reduce congestion whilst providing greater access for patients, staff and visitors.
The dollar for dollar funding demonstrates the Government’s commitment to help build greater capacity at the hospital that will further future proof the facilty for the regions growing population.
Minister for Health, Greg Hunt said the Federal Government is continuing to deliver record hospital funding in Queensland each and every year.
“By delivering our plan for a strong economy we can make investments in projects like the new Redlands Hospital Car Park that Queenslanders want and need,”
Minister Hunt said. “The building of a multi storey carpark would have an enormous impact on the whole Redlands Hospital precinct, and would represent a major contribution into the health infrastructure of Redland City.”
“This announcement is further to the Prime Ministers congestion busting funding that will ensure safe access into the entire Hospital precinct, with upgrades to Wellington Street and Panorama Drive,”
Minister Hunt said. Federal member for Bowman, Andrew Laming, highlighted the necessity for action to address the underfunded Redlands Hospital and its dire car parking issues.
“The people of Redlands have been waiting far too long for this carpark, that’s why we just need to get on with the job – no more studies – no more waiting.
“Redland Hospital has been treated as the poor cousin to larger hospitals and other parts of Brisbane for far too long. “
“I would like to thank Minister Hunt for answering the community’s call to co-fund the Redland Hospital carpark and look forward to the Queensland government working constructively with me to bring the project to fruition.” Mr Laming said.
