The Turnbull Government is providing $6.1 million to the Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre to support important health and medical research.
This investment will enable Monash Partners to build on research work it has already undertaken in areas such as data linkage, women’s and children’s health, cancer, diabetes, infections, heart disease and many more areas of health.
The funding from the Government’s Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) builds on an earlier $2.22 million grant provided to the centre through the fund.
The is cutting-edge research undertaken by the centre will directly benefit patients across Australia and beyond.
Monash Partners is an internationally peer-reviewed and National Health and Medical Research Council-accredited entity and is one of seven Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres (AHRTCs) across the country.
These centres are collaborations of health service providers, medical research institutes and universities that focus on practical solutions to healthcare problems that can immediately benefit patients.
The Australian Government is committed to improving health services for all Australians and will continue to invest in better treatment, care and research that make a difference to the lives of Australians.
The MRFF is a $20 billion investment in the health of Australians, our economy and the sustainability of our health system.
The $6.1 million is part of the $1.7 billion investment the Government has made in health and medical research through the MRFF as part of the 2018–19 Budget.
The Australian Government's ongoing investments through the MRFF are supercharging the growth in cutting-edge health and medical research, leading to new treatments and cures that are improving health outcomes across Australia while fuelling jobs, economic growth and export potential.
