Young people on Bribie Island now have access to mental health support and care, closer to home, with the opening of a local headspace service.

Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Emma McBride, officially opened headspace Bribie Island today.

Located at 201 First Avenue, Bongaree, headspace Bribie Island supports young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing or at risk of mild to moderate mental ill-health.

headspace provides support in four areas – mental health, physical and sexual health, work and study, and alcohol and drugs.

headspace Bribie Island is funded by the Albanese Labor Government through the Brisbane North Primary Health Network and operated by Youturn Youth Support.

headspace Bribie Island is the fourth service to open in Moreton Bay with existing locations in Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine.

The Australian Government has committed more than $300 million to improve and expand the headspace network to 174 services across the country.

To help meet the growing demand for headspace services, the government has committed $27.1 million to the headspace Early Career Program which supports 150 graduates and 1500 student placements at headspaces each year.

Young people who prefer online support can access eheadspace by calling 1800 650 890 or visiting www.headspace.org.au
