Committees and groups

The Clinical Categories Review Advisory Committee (CCRAC) will support the Clinical Categories Review.

The CIRG is an independent group of clinicians who provide advice to the Australian Government on measures being implemented as part of the Prostheses List reforms.

The Co-design Working Group (CWG) formed in November 2023 to support the co-design of an Enhanced Consumer Engagement Process for Health Technology Assessment (HTA). The group worked to improve how we include the views of consumers and patients earlier in the medicines listing process.

The Comprehensive Primary Health Care Sustainability Advisory Committee monitors the Indigenous Australians’ Health Programme funding model. The committee then advises us on how it is performing and how we can continue to improve it.

The COVID-19 Arts and Health Advisory Committee (AHAC) provides advice to the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and the cultural and creative sector on how to reactivate the sector in a COVIDSafe way.

The Dementia Expert Reference Group (DERG) provides expert insight and feedback to the Australian Government to support monitoring and continuous improvement of dementia policy, programs and activities.

The Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care Mission Expert Advisory Panel (EAP) advised the government on the research priorities for this Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) mission.

The Sector Partners group consists of volunteers from aged care service providers, IT vendors and other organisations across the aged care sector. Their valuable feedback helps us design and deliver our aged care digital transformation work in a way that meets the sector’s needs.

The Disability Reform Ministerial Council is a forum for Commonwealth and state and territory ministers responsible for disability policy to drive national reform.

The Distribution Working Group (DWG) provides us with independent expert advice on policies and programs that aim to improve access to medical services.

We set up the Electrocardiogram (ECG) Review Committee to review Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) plain ECG items that were introduced on 1 August 2020.

This committee provides expert input and advice to the Scope of Practice Review’s independent lead, Professor Mark Cormack.

The Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on Genomics Australia has provided advice to the Australian Government through the department on the establishment of a new national genomics body, Genomics Australia.

The ECAG assess the clinical functionality and clinical effectiveness of medical devices and human tissue products being considered for listing, or already listed on the Prescribed List.

The First Nations General Practice Training Committee (FNGPTC) provides advice to the Australian Government and the General Practice (GP) Colleges on First Nations GP training.

The First Nations Health Funding Transition Advisory Group guides the work of the First Nations Health Funding Transition Program (FNHFTP).

The First Nations Governance Group (FNHGG) is a formal partnership between the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and First Nations health experts and leaders to guide work under the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2021–2031.

This reference group is developing a best practice guide to support the food industry to improve commercial foods for infants and young children.

The General Practice Training Advisory Committee (GPTAC) provides advice to the Australian Government on how to maintain and improve outcomes of GP training. This ensures the registrar workforce is well distributed to deliver primary health care to all Australians.

The Genomics Health Futures Mission Expert Advisory Panel (EAP) advises the government on the research priorities for this Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) mission.

The Haemopoietic Progenitor Cell (HPC) Sector Clinical Advisory Group provides advice to support the implementation of the National Haemopoietic Progenitor Cell Framework. The framework will ensure future arrangements continue to improve access to HPC transplants for Australians.

The HCEF is an intergovernmental forum for joint decision-making and strategic policy discussions that helps to efficiently deliver health services in Australia. It is made up of the health department chief executive officer from each state and territory and the Australian Government.

The Health Ministers Meeting (HMM) works to progress health issues of national importance which require cross-border collaboration. It is made up of the health ministers of each state and territory government, along with the Australian Government Minister for Health and Aged Care.

The Health Roadmap Working Group is developing a roadmap to address the health and mental health inequities experienced by autistic people. The working group consists of a diverse range of stakeholders, including autistic people and representatives from the autism community.

The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Consumer Consultative Committee provides strategic advice and support to us and to the principal HTA committees. Acting as an advisory group, it brings consumer views into HTA processes and relevant matters.
