Role
The FNACGG works with us to shape aged care policy and programs to reflect the interests and needs of older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The group promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s voices and cultural safety in aged care policy design and implementation. It provides us with expertise and recommendations on improving the experiences of older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples using aged care services. This helps us build a strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care sector.
It also ensures we work collaboratively to support the rights of diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups such as:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander gender diverse communities.
The FNACGG worked with us to develop the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Framework 2025–2035. This framework outlines key priorities and targets that can help improve the aged care experience for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
