Rheumatic Fever Strategy Joint Advisory Committee

The Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) is the lead governance mechanism for the Rheumatic Fever Strategy (RFS).

Role

We are partnering with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to end Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) as a public health issue in Australia.

The RFS JAC provides advice to our department and NACCHO to address cases of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and RHD in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In this role, the RFS JAC discusses and contributes to decision‐making about how to reduce the incidence of ARF and prevalence of RHD in First Nations communities.

The joint governance arrangements deliver on all 4 of the Priority Reforms agreed under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
