National Lung Cancer Screening Program Advisory Group

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) Advisory Group provides advice on program implementation, policy and governance for the program.

Role

The advisory group is one of 2 key governance groups that provides advice on the NLCSP.  

Its role is to consider and advise on: 

  • program implementation, policy and governance 
  • key performance indicators 
  • jurisdictional and key stakeholder agency perspectives 
  • consultation between the relevant Australian Government and state and territory agencies 
  • documents considered by the NLCSP Expert Advisory Committee.

Advisory group members also pass on information to their respective jurisdictional health systems, to support local program implementation based on regional needs.

Members

The advisory group includes representatives from:

  • all state and territory health departments or relevant portfolio agencies
  • the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO)
  • Cancer Australia
  • our department.

Meetings

The group meets approximately every 3 months, with items considered out of session as required.

Related committees

The NLCSP Expert Advisory Committee also advises us about the program. The committee is a multidisciplinary group that gives expert advice on best practice lung cancer screening.
