Role
The Strategy Steering Committee (SSC) will guide the development of the National Nursing Workforce Strategy, so it meets the needs of:
- the community
- the profession
- service delivery providers.
Members
The SSC includes senior officers from all jurisdictions who:
- have knowledge of nursing workforce issues
- can share workforce information and data
- have authority to make decisions about their jurisdiction’s requirements and commitments.
The SSC also includes several specialists with expertise outside of nursing who can bring a different perspective to help to shape the strategy.
The Commonwealth Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and Victorian Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer will co-chair the SSC meetings.

Meetings
Meetings will be held approximately 6 to 8 times per year and communiques will be published here after each meeting.

The Strategy Advisory Group (SAG) is a time-limited stakeholder group advising on the development of the strategy.
The SAG reports to the SSC which in turn reports to the Health Workforce Taskforce (HWT).
