The Distribution Working Group (DWG) provides independent expert advice on policies and programs that aim to improve access to medical services.

Role

The Distribution Working Group (DWG) provides us and the Minister for Health, Disability and Ageing. It provides independent advice relating to workforce distribution mechanisms that support equitable access to medical services across Australia.

We are currently working with the Minister’s Office to refresh the DWG. Updated information on the group’s role, terms of reference and membership will be published once finalised.

Exceptional circumstances reviews

From 2021 to 2025 the DWG assessed applications for an area’s Distribution Priority Area classification review. The DWG is no longer responsible for this. Further information can be found at:
