BreastScreen Australia Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC)

The BreastScreen Australia Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC) provides expert advice to BreastScreen Australia Program managers about clinical issues.

Role

The CAC:

  • reviews and advises of clinical evidence regarding the BreastScreen Australia program
  • advises on national clinical policies and procedures, and new and emerging technologies
  • advises about clinical issues and risks.

Advice is provided within the context of current evidence-based best practice, and aligned with relevant college policies, guidelines and legislation.

The aim is to improve the delivery of breast screening services that are:

  • nationally consistent
  • evidence based
  • high quality.

Members

Clinical Advisory Committee members include:

  • 2 radiologists, with experience in breast screening
  • a breast physician
  • a breast surgeon
  • 2 pathologists, with experience in breast screening
  • a radiographer, with experience in breast screening
  • a program management representative
  • an Australian Government representative
  • other specialists or expertise as needed.
