The National Maternity Workforce Strategy 2026–2036 aims to strengthen Australia’s maternity workforce by focusing on recruitment, retention, and culturally safe services nationwide.

The National Medical Stockpile is Australia’s emergency supply of specialised medical products. It helps Australia respond to serious national health emergencies, including pandemics and chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incidents.

The Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) is a nationally implemented system, designed to monitor the prescribing and dispensing of monitored medicines chosen by each state and territory with the aim of reducing their misuse in Australia.

State and territory governments established the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health practitioners in 2010 by introducing consistent legislation in all jurisdictions. While the scheme is not an Australian Government scheme, it affects the health workforce across the country.

The NatRUM Program is a service funded by the Australian Government that supports the safe disposal of expired and unwanted medicines.

The Australian Government has released the National Roadmap for Improving the Health of People with Intellectual Disability to address serious health inequities faced by people with intellectual disability. The Australian Government released the National Roadmap to Improve the Health and Mental Health of Autistic People 2025-2035 on 25 February 2025. The Roadmap addresses serious health inequities faced by Autistic people in Australia.
