“If someone’s really struggling [with perimenopause or menopause], then I think it’s best to talk to the GP. And there is no taboo on getting some professional help.”

My name is Rachel Shin. I am 47 years old. I turned 47 this year, and I’m a mother of two daughters, and I'm a professional interpreter.
The very first symptom that I noticed was weight gain. So I went to my GP she ruled out all the other serious illnesses.
Weight gain was the first one, second was sweating – excessive sweating. I had this fan, individual “Rachel only” fan with me all the time, AC, windows. Because of the sweat I needed a thick towel over my pillow.
Yes, I struggled a lot, I think it's because it's everyday struggle that I had to go through. Yeah.
No one is exempt from it. Everyone is going through it. You pay tax, you go through perimenopause or menopause.
I think we should embrace it – or at least be open to talk with someone you trust.
If someone's really struggling, then I think it's best to talk to the GP. And there is no taboo on getting some professional help.
