State and territory governments

Governments want to make Thriving Kids an easy way to access support when families need it.

State and territory governments

Thriving Kids will be underpinned by the same principles and objectives in all states and territories, but it might look different in different locations. There is a good reason for that. It's about building on existing strengths and investing where it makes the biggest impact

Thriving Kids will be child and family-centred, evidence-based, culturally appropriate and inclusive. How and where services are delivered will reflect local arrangements in each state and territory.

State and territory governments will deliver:

  • child health and development checks to identify when a child may need extra support
  • information to help families find the right supports in their state or territory
  • programs for families that help support their child’s development
  • targeted supports like allied health, low-cost assistive technology or capacity building for children and families who need it
  • state measures to assist workforce capability readiness.
