Consulting the public

You can have a say in how the Australian Government spends MRFF money.

Every 2 years, the Australian Medical Research Advisory Board (AMRAB) consults the public about the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Priorities for the MRFF. AMRAB then develops the next set of priorities based on this feedback.

AMRAB talks to:

• the general public
• organisations with expertise in health and medical research and innovation
• consumer representatives
• clinicians
• health services managers.

We also consult the public on other relevant matters to compile consultation reports.

Previous consultations include:

• consultation on the National Health and Medical Research Council/MRFF Statement on Sex, Gender, Variations of Sex Characteristics and Sexual Orientation in Health and Medical Research. This consultation was open between 6 November 2023 and 15 December 2023
• consultation on the alignment and coordination of the MRFF and NHMRC’s Medical Research Endowment Account between 4 June 2023 and 14 July 2023
• consultation on the Roadmap and Implementation Plan for the Million Minds Mental Health Research Mission between 28 October 2022 and 1 December 2022
