Midwife Professional Indemnity Run-Off Cover Scheme (MPIROCS)

The MPIROCS provides run-off cover to eligible midwives who have stopped private practice. Find out who is eligible and how this scheme works.

About the scheme

Find out about the MPIROCS – what it is, why it is important, how it works and the related legislation.

Midwives may be eligible if they have stopped paid private practice and had medical insurance while they were practising.

The MPIROCS is based on a midwife's last cover. It usually includes cover for compensation or damages costs, and costs related to managing claims.

Find out what claims are eligible for the MPIROCS. The insurer (MIGA) pays the claim costs and then applies for MPIROCS payments as reimbursement.
