Benefits for older people, their families and carers
Our work under the Aged Care Data and Digital Strategy will support older people their families and carers by:
- making the system easier to understand and navigate, so they can make informed decisions and actively participate in their care and wellbeing
 - creating seamless assessments and transfers between settings
 - better coordinating and connecting the system, to reduce duplication and errors, and ensure people only have to tell their story and history once
 - providing confidence that the technology protects their personal information
 - using technology to also make non-digital channels more accessible, efficient, and effective.

Example journey
Jenny
In the strategy, we created a fictional example that shows Jenny’s aged care journey. It highlights how the strategy supports Jenny’s journey through:
- free digital and health literacy resources
 - digital tools that support her to age well
 - the ability to register for an assessment on My Aged Care, with secure link to her health record
 - the Integrated Assessment Tool used to assess her needs
 - the Find a provider tool, which enabled her to compare providers
 - Star Ratings for residential aged care, which enabled her to assess the quality of care available to her
 - the assistive technology that she chooses to use to help her stay at home longer
 - the systems across health and aged care used to securely share her data in real-time across all the aged care system.

 - Priority 2: Create simplified, user-friendly experiences.

Secure information sharing
Outcome 3 aims to ensure data is shared and reused securely to deliver a sustainable and continually improving aged care system.
Under this outcome, Priority 5 is to improve security and access control to ensure aged care information is secure and reliable.
