People living in Canberra’s southern suburbs can now access free, walk-in mental health support at the new Tuggeranong Medicare Mental Health Centre.
The centre was officially opened today by Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Emma McBride MP, and the Member for Bean, David Smith MP.
Located at 2-6 Eileen Good Street in Greenway, no appointment, referral, or mental health treatment plan is needed to access services.
Staffed by a multidisciplinary care team, including mental health clinicians and peer workers, care is tailored to the needs of each person who visits the centre.
The Albanese Labor Government is strengthening Medicare by establishing a national network of 91 Medicare Mental Health Centres, including two in the Australian Capital Territory.
There are now 41 Medicare Mental Health Centres open and supporting people across the country.
The government delivered $3.5 million to the ACT Primary Health Network to commission the Tuggeranong Medicare Mental Health Centre, which is operated by Think Mental Health.
