A Medicare milestone
In 2024, Australia celebrates 40 years of Medicare, the foundation of the nation’s world-class health system. For 4 decades, Medicare has guaranteed all Australians have access to a wide range of health and hospital services at low or no cost.
Medicare helps people to get the health care they need when they need it, no matter their income or where they live.
There are constant improvements being made to continue to build a stronger Medicare system and make health services more accessible.
