Early detection saves lives
The new National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) is available for eligible for Australians.
The NLCSP aims to achieve better health outcomes for Australians by detecting lung cancer early and saving lives from lung cancer. Early detection can lead to more effective treatment options and improved outcomes for patients.
If you’re aged between 50 to 70 and have a history of smoking, don’t delay and speak to a healthcare provider today.

Get expert tips, information and tailored support to quit smoking. However, you don’t have to quit smoking to participate in the program.
How do I know if I’m eligible?
From July 2025, Australians may be eligible to participate in the NLCSP if they are:
- aged between 50 to 70 years and
- show no signs or symptoms suggesting they may have lung cancer – meaning that they are asymptomatic and
- currently smoke or have quit smoking in the past 10 years and
- have a history of tobacco cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years.
