A Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is an intermediate between emergency care and general practice or primary health care. We will see anyone that has non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses that need to be seen on the day where people can't come in to see their GP because they can't get an appointment, but they're not urgent enough that require treatment at hospitals.
Urgent care is for those acute injuries or illnesses, such as minor burns, lacerations, sprains or strains. Simple infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections or simple fractures.
Urgent care is based on a triage, so that'll determine the priority of who is most urgent to be seen in the clinic at the time.
We provide a great service, seven days a week with extended hours. No referral or appointment needed. They're open to anyone that's got a Medicare card. I think having centres like this around Australia is important.
It really helps to take the pressure off local GP practices. And also, it allows us to ease the burden on emergency departments.
The staff in our Urgent Care Clinic most have multiple years of ED or critical care experience or primary health care experience.
Feedback here has been really positive. Patients are really enjoying having the clinic. They've been so thankful that we've been there and able to provide high-quality care, efficiently as well.
If you've got a Medicare card and need urgent care, please come and see us. There's no cost to you.
