Medicare Urgent Care clinics are for patients who are unable to get in to see their GP or the hospital for minor illnesses and injuries.

Bulk billed accessible urgent healthcare for everyone.

Urgent care is sitting in between General Practice and Emergency Department and that leaves a big gap in the middle of conditions that need to be seen.

People can access urgent care for extended hours.

There are extended scope of services so patients have everything they need within close proximity to the centre so that they can get their complete episode of care in one place.

It provides a walk in, no appointment clinical review for things that are generally episodic in nature, minor fractures, brains, respiratory illnesses, a lot of like wound infections, a lot of lacerations.

They are there to take the loads off the hospitals, so reduce the hospital numbers and it's generally a bit of a quicker turnover than you would in the emergency department and there are no out of pocket costs.

So really addressing those things that community have told us are important to facilitate them accessing primary care when they most need it.
