Medicine suppliers charge extra for some medicines, known as a brand premium.

You can ask your pharmacist about other versions of the same medicine that don’t charge a brand premium, known as generic medicines.

Pharmacies are also allowed to offer a competitive discount on medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme when the price is less than the 2024 general co-payment of $31.60.
