Shirani’s story about PBS co-payment changes

Shirani takes several PBS medicines. With the co‑payment dropping to $25, two of her daily medicines will cost less each month, helping ease her expenses.

My name's Shirani, and I'm 49 years old.

I have a lot of health conditions.

I've got juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

I've also got osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, some lung problems, and a few others chucked in there.

For my health conditions, I'm on about 10 different medications from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

So, yes, quite a few.

In January, the co-payment of $31.60 reduced to $25, so out of my medication two of mine are in that category, for my blood pressure and blood thinners.

So I need to take these every day, so that's a big difference.

I know there's a lot of people in the community with chronic illnesses, so this will help myself and lots of other people on medication to save money.

It will definitely help us.

Anyone out there on PBS medication, talk to your pharmacist about the cost of your medicines.
