Bulk Billing for all Australians – Patient stories

With expanded eligibility for MBS bulk billing incentives, more GPs are bulk billing more services. Hear from patients across Australia about how the changes to bulk billing helps them access the care they need.

Peter, patient: Cost of living's got to be an issue for almost everybody. So bulk billing has been great. You go to the doctors and not worry about the cost.  

Nicole, patient: I absolutely love it. I have asthma. I've had it all my life, and now I know that I can come to the doctors and not be afraid of what's going to cost me out of my pocket to make sure my asthma is going well.  

Leanne, patient: This clinic becoming bulk billed helps my whole family because my whole family come here, from my 5 kids to my 12 grandkids.  

Peter: It's just made life a lot easier. It's just good for the community.  

Jeanette, patient: There have definitely been times in the past when I've put off going to see my GP just to reduce my healthcare costs.  

Murray, patient: I think anything that encourages or makes it easier for people to see a doctor is a very good move.  

Jeanette: These changes to bulk billing will definitely make healthcare more accessible and affordable for lots of people.  

Leanne: Bulk billing means that you can go to the doctor when you start feeling unwell rather than when you are really unwell.  

Murry: And it should encourage people to come to see their GP.  

Peter: The GPs, they're there to help you. So if you've got the opportunity to go and do it, go and do it.
