What’s really important for a lot of us as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is our culture and our language.

It’s a great opportunity now for our young ones to spend time now asking our older parents about ourselves as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

I remember my grandmother as I was growing up, she could talk about our country and describe it and so we’d sit down and listen to her describe the hills, and the rivers, the creeks, how to go fishing, how to go hunting. All of these issues are part of us as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people irrespective of where we live, so it’s an opportunity to share those experiences.

And if there’s nobody at home that can really help you out, then get on the internet.

So let’s do it, let’s not get bored, let’s take this opportunity to really express and to learn. Go for it.
