General public

This information sheet provides information for essential workers and their employers about entering designated areas.

There are exemptions to the entry requirements to allow workers to maintain essential activities, such as:

  • food supplies
  • medical services
  • policing
  • critical infrastructure such as power, water and telecommunications

People engaging in an essential activity can enter a designated area without undertaking 14 days of isolation if:

  • there is an urgent need, such as an urgent failure to critical infrastructure
  • a risk management plan has been agreed with a biosecurity officer
