A Matter of Care: Australia’s Aged Care Workforce Strategy

This strategy sets out 14 actions for industry to change attitudes to caring, attract and retain a skilled aged care workforce, and ensure the workforce can meet aged care needs now and into the future. It was developed by the Aged Care Workforce Taskforce and released in September 2018.

The Australian Government funded an independent Aged Care Workforce Taskforce to develop Australia’s first industry-led Aged Care Workforce Strategy.

The Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce developed this strategy with input from various stakeholders. They consulted with the general public, service providers, consumers, experts and people working in aged care.

This strategy outlines 14 actions to:

  • help the aged care sector meet current and future workforce challenges
  • improve the quality of aged care for everyone.
