National Consistent Payments Framework resources

This is a collection of documents for the National Consistent Payments (NCP) framework which provides support payments to supervisors, practices and registrars on the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program.

The National Consistent Payments (NCP) Framework outlines the support payments which will be provided to eligible supervisors, practices and registrars involved in the AGPT Program commencing from semester one in 2023.

The NCP framework will provide financial support to all eligible AGPT participants, including:

  • supervisors
  • practices
  • registrars.

These support payments will be administered by Services Australia, in collaboration with the training colleges (the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)). Payments will be delivered through a Services Australia payment system.

Registrars and Supervisors wishing to receive payments directly will be required to have individual Provider Digital Access (PRODA) system accounts. Practices providing placements will need to have organisation PRODA system account and also link to the Organisational Register.

To read more on the process for registering on the Services Australia online payment systems read the Transition of the Australian General Practice Training Program.

The key guiding principles for the development of the NCP framework include the capacity to reduce red tape, promote accountability, and increase transparency around the GP training for the benefit of supervisors, practices and registrars, particularly to attract medical doctors in pursuing a GP career in regional, rural and remote areas.

Health acknowledges the following stakeholders for their input:

  • GP Training colleges – RACGP and ACRRM
  • Regional Training Organisations (RTOs) – Nine RTOs across states and territories
  • Regional Training Organisation Network
  • National Rural Health Commissioner
  • Australian Medical Association
  • General Practice Registrars Association
  • General Practice Supervisors Association
  • Rural Doctors Association of Australia
  • Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association
