Application intake
We accept applications for the AGPT Program through the colleges.
Applications for the second 2023 intake will open for:
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
- Open 10 am AEST Monday 1 August 2022
- Close 11:59 pm AEST Monday 29 August 2022
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
- Open 10 am AEST Monday 8 August 2022
- Close 11:59 pm AEST Tuesday 30 August 2022
Register with a college
Before applications open, you can register your interest in the program at any time with either the:
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
You should receive a confirmation email after you register. If you don’t receive an email after several hours, contact the college. Don’t register again unless your college asks you to.

Apply for the program
The college you apply to will let you know how to apply and what you must give them.
Complete and submit:
- an online application
- your supporting documentation
- referee details
- your Regional Training Organisation (RTO) preferences
Application assessment
The GP college you apply to will assess your application.
Each college has its own assessment process.

Next steps
If the college finds you eligible, someone will contact you to schedule an interview..
If you are successful in the interview, you will be offered a placement in your training region.
Contact the ACRRM or RACGP to find out more about the interview process. You can also contact your preferred RTO.
