Changing your application
You should only submit your application to your preferred college once you are sure it is complete.
However, both colleges allow you to change your preferences for a few weeks after applications close.
For more information, see:
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP)
Outcome
If successful, your college will offer you a placement in writing.
You then have a week to accept or decline the offer.
Your college will explain your next steps.
Applying for a placement and Medicare provider number
Before you start your training, you need a Medicare provider number to claim Medicare Benefits Schedule items. You also need an approved training placement from your Regional Training Organisation (RTO).
Your RTO will send you a placement form, which will include details on how to apply for your Medicare provider number.
You need to complete the form, and return it to your RTO as soon as possible.
Tell us what you think
Each year, we ask you to tell us about your training through the National Registrar Survey. We will contact you directly, so you can have a say and help us improve.
