We collect data to gain a better understanding of the aged care workforce. This allows us to work with aged care providers and workers to develop policy that addresses challenges in the sector.

Aged Care Provider Workforce Survey 2026

Data collection for the Aged Care Provider Workforce Survey 2026 will take place in February 2026. The survey will only apply to services that are selected as part of a survey sample.

The survey will be open over a 6-week period from 16 February to 27 March 2026. Selected services will receive a unique survey link from Health Consult to participate.

The survey will collect information on workforce size and composition from:

  • residential aged care
  • the Support at Home program
  • the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
  • Multi-Purpose Services (MPS)
  • the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIFAC).

The Aged Care Provider Workforce Survey has replaced the Aged Care Workforce Census.

Data from this survey will be published through the AIHW website. For any enquiries, please email ACWprovidersurvey@health.gov.au. More information will be provided in early 2026.
