Aged Care Quality Standards: Public consultation now open
Consultation on the revised Aged Care Quality Standards is now open until 25 November 2022.
The department is conducting an urgent review of the Aged Care Quality Standards, as recommended by the Royal Commission, and is seeking feedback on a revised version of the standards.
The Quality Standards provide a shared understanding of what is expected in aged care, and are a valuable resource for older Australians, their families, providers and staff alike.

HCP Program Assurance Community of Practice: Live chat session
The next live chat session for the Home Care Packages (HCP) Program Assurance Community of Practice will be held at 2pm‑3pm AEDT on Thursday 20 October.
This month, department staff from the Program Assurance Branch will be online to answer your questions about pricing transparency. Join us to discuss:
- the current pricing transparency assurance review
- provider obligations regarding pricing transparency.
All approved HCP providers are welcome to attend. For those who have not yet joined, sign up for the HCP Program Assurance Community of Practice.

Discussion paper: In-home aged care
A New Program for In-Home Aged Care Discussion Paper is now available, and the department is calling for your feedback through a written submission.
The department will also be holding consultation sessions on the discussion paper throughout November. If you would like to participate in a session, please email SAH.implementation@health.gov.au by Friday 4 November, and note your preference to attend the industry sessions or the sessions for older Australians and their carers.

Webinar: Living with significant health issues – a life story perspective
Join Swinburne’s Wellbeing Clinic for Older Adults for their upcoming free webinar on ageing at 4.45‑6pm AEDT on Friday 28 October.
This webinar is for people employed in aged care, as well as psychologists, social workers, counsellors and volunteers who work with older adults.
Emeritus Professor of English Richard Freadman outlines the role that stories play in shaping our experience of illness. Professor Freadman will discuss how writing about illness and exploring one’s experience of illness with others can be therapeutic.

Reminder: Electronic National Residential Medication Chart Grant Opportunity
Round 1 of the electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) Adoption grant opportunity is now open. Residential aged care services, multi-purpose services and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care providers may be eligible for up to $22,000.
The grant opportunity is designed to help offset costs associated with implementing an eNRMC product, such as software and hardware costs, change management processes and staff training.
Round 1 grant applications close at 2pm AEDT, Thursday 30 March 2023.
