Quarterly Financial Report submission
Approved aged care providers will soon need to submit their first Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) for the 2022‑23 financial year, through the Forms Administration portal. The portal will open for quarter 1 submissions from 1 October. Submissions are due by Friday 4 November 2022.
The QFR update and Q&A webinar recording, slides and transcript are available on the Forms Administration website. Providers can also review the QFR template, guide, definition, and FAQ documents.

Food and Nutrition reporting: Explanatory Notes now available
Explanatory Notes for Food and Nutrition reporting in the Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) are now available.
Use these notes to help you complete your Food and Nutrition report through the QFR. The notes provide detailed guidance and case scenarios, making reporting simpler.
The first QFR Food and Nutrition report for July to September 2022 quarter is due on 4 November for all residential, MPS and NATSIFAC services receiving the Basic Daily Fee supplement.

Webinar recording now available: Reforming in-home aged care and regulation update
A captioned video recording of the Reforming in-home aged care and regulation update webinar is now available on the department’s website.
The webinar provided an update on the department’s progress in the reform journey – from the establishment of a new Aged Care Act to a new in-home aged care program, through to progress on regulation and the review of the Aged Care Quality Standards.

myGov has changed but My Aged Care Online Account remains the same
myGov has been upgraded with a fresh look, modern functions and personalised information to help clients find government services. The web address (my.gov.au) hasn’t changed and clients don’t need to do anything different.
They will find all their linked myGov services are the same, including the link to their My Aged Care Online Account.
The Online Account is an easy way for clients and their representatives to view and update key information about their aged care progress. There is information available on the My Aged Care website to help clients with how to:
Community Visitors Scheme celebrates 30 years
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS), the department’s key volunteering initiative in aged care.
The CVS supports volunteer visits to provide friendship and companionship to older people receiving government subsidised residential aged care or in-home care services. This support helps reduce social isolation and loneliness in older Australians.
Volunteering as a community visitor can be a rewarding experience. By befriending an older person, you can make a positive difference to their lives as well as your own.

Free booklet and training to support LGBTI people with dementia in aged care
Dementia Support Australia has partnered with LGBTIQ+ Health Australia to co-design a booklet on LGBTI and Dementia: Understanding changes in behaviour.
This booklet is free to download and can help staff provide a supportive and informed approach to care by understanding what LGBTI people may have experienced in their life and how this may impact their behaviour. This can help staff provide culturally safe, appropriate, and inclusive care in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
LGBTIQ+ Health Australia also provides LGBTI-inclusive training for the aged care sector through Silver Rainbow LGBTI Aged Care Awareness Training.
This training is funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care until 2023. You can arrange training for your organisation by emailing education@lgbtiqhealth.org.au
National Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program
Would you know what to do if someone you support was experiencing thoughts of suicide?
Anglicare’s Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program equips those who support older people with the knowledge to help prevent suicide.
The free program has expanded nationally and includes a general suicide prevention online course followed by a workshop contextualising the training for older people. The two parts should only take a total of 3 hours to complete.
The program is funded by the NSW and Australian governments. To be eligible, you need to be working with older people and have internet access.
