QI Program data elements from 1 July 2021 – summary now published

This summary is for government-subsidised residential aged care providers has now been published. It provides a summary of data elements for each QI Program quality indicator from 1 July 2021.

The National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program (QI Program) will include new quality indicators from 1 July 2021:

  • pressure injuries
  • physical restraint
  • unplanned weight loss
  • falls and major injury
  • medication management

The Quality Indicator Data Elements Summary to support QI Program expansion from 1 July 2021 has been published online.

The summary provides an outline of QI Program quality indicator data elements to support approved providers of residential aged care to prepare for QI Program expansion from 1 July 2021.

The QI Program Manual is the key resource for the QI Program. It includes definitions of each quality indicator and comprehensive guidance on how to collect data and ensure compliance with legislation. The updated Manual will soon be made available online.
