Reminder: Star Ratings provider preview ending
Residential aged care providers are reminded to preview their updated Star Ratings through the Star Ratings tile in the Government Provider Management System (GPMS).
After being made available on 11 April on GPMS, the quarterly updates to Star Ratings will be published on My Aged Care at the end of April.
The preview offers providers an opportunity to communicate their updated Star Ratings to staff and support their discussions with residents and families.
If your Organisation Administrator is having difficulty accessing GPMS, or to report any IT or technical errors in your Star Ratings before publication, please contact the My Aged Care Service Industry, Provider and Assessor Helpline on 1800 836 799.

- understand calculations using the Star Ratings Provider Manual
- refer to the QI Program Manual – Part C to check self-reported Quality Measures data
- contact the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission on 1800 951 822 or email email@example.com with questions about the Compliance Rating.
New Government Provider Management System for residential aged care providers
The new Government Provider Management System (GPMS) portal is now available to Organisation Administrators of residential aged care service providers. GPMS enables you to preview your organisation’s Star Ratings.
Steps to take:
- log on to GPMS
- assign roles for ‘Organisation Administrators’ and ‘Star Rating’ reviewers in the system
- check your organisation details are correct.

Consultation open: A new model for regulating aged care
We’re seeking feedback on A new model for regulating aged care, Consultation Paper No.2: Details of the proposed new model.
The release of this paper marks the beginning of an 8-week consultation period which will be open until Friday 23 June 2023.
It follows 2 previous consultation papers and extensive sector engagement to develop a path forward for reforming the way aged care is delivered, monitored and improved.
We propose changes to:
- provider eligibility and entry to the sector
- registration categories and provider obligations
- boost provider capability and strengthen sector relationships
- improve the culture of aged care and valuing care recipient feedback through stronger communication and complaints mechanisms.

Webinar: Reforming in-home aged care update
The department is hosting a webinar on Thursday 18 May at 2pm-4pm AEST to update older people, their families and carers and the aged care sector on in-home aged care reform.
The webinar will provide a progress update on:
- reforms to in-home aged care
- Commonwealth Home Support Programme
- Home Care Packages Program
- the new regulatory model
- the new Aged Care Act.
This webinar will have Auslan interpreters. You will have an opportunity to submit questions during the webinar.

Have your say on ACWIC’s Workforce Planning Tool
The Aged Care Workforce Industry Council (ACWIC) is encouraging providers to have their say and help shape the future development of its free online Workforce Planning Tool, which has been designed specifically for aged care.
Everyone involved in aged care workforce planning, whether they are current users of the tool or have an interest in the topic, is invited to respond.
The survey closes on Friday 5 May.

Invitation to participate in the Digital Maturity National Survey
The Aged Care Industry Information Technology Council (ACIITC) has been engaged by the Australian Digital Health Agency to help determine the current state of digital maturity across the aged and community care sector via a Digital Maturity National Survey.
On 24 April ACIITC emailed aged care providers with an invitation and link to participate in the survey.
We’re seeking your support to complete the survey by Friday 12 May so our findings accurately reflect your organisation and the state of the sector.

Vision Australia webinar: What a client outcome measurement tool can look like
Vision Australia is presenting a webinar for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) providers about a client outcome measurement tool. The webinar will be held on Tuesday 16 May at 2pm AEST and is free to staff who work in aged care.
Vision Australia’s experts will explain the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), a measurement framework used to measure person-centred outcomes.
This webinar is suitable for aged care workers and staff in clinical governance and will cover:
- how the COPM works
- importance of measuring outcomes
- benefits of using an outcome measurement tool
- understanding the impact of a service to the client and organisation.

Quarterly Financial Reports due 5 May
Approved providers are reminded to submit their quarter 3 Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) through the Forms Administration portal by Friday 5 May.
Providers must ensure that data entered into the Quarterly Financial Statements screen is for the year-to-date. However, data entered on the Residential, Home Care Expenses & Labour Hours, and Food & Nutrition screens, should be for the January-March 2023 quarter only.
