Welcome to the first Medical Research Future Fund monthly newsletter.

$16 million for bushfire impact, stem cell and traumatic brain injury research

Grant opportunities are now open under the Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven ResearchStem Cell Therapies Mission and the Traumatic Brain Injury Mission. This includes:

  • $5 million for bushfire impact research to study the health effects of the recent bushfires
  • $6 million for stem cell research to deliver innovative, safe and effective treatments
  • $5 million for studies to improve recovery from traumatic brain injury.

Applications for the bushfire related health research close on 31 January, while applications for the stem cell research and traumatic brain injury both close on 4 March. You can visit GrantConnect for more information.

Public consultation

The Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care Mission draft roadmap is open for public consultation. The roadmap outlines the vision, key themes and priorities of the mission. You can read the draft roadmap and provide feedback on the Department of Health website until 17 February. Your feedback will be used to finalise the roadmap and funding priorities for critical research.

Implementing the 10-year plan

The MRFF 10-year Public Implementation Plan is now on the Department of Health website. The plan includes snapshots of budgets, funding priorities and grant timelines for each initiative and mission. You can use this to plan for upcoming grant opportunities and see how they will be established, expanded and embedded over time.
