The Australian Government will provide $130 billion for JobKeeper support to help keep Australians in jobs and minimise the significant economic and social impact from the coronavirus.
The payment is a subsidy to businesses which will keep more Australians in jobs throughout the coronavirus pandemic as social distancing and public gathering restrictions impact on business operations.
Employers will receive a payment of $1,500 per employee to help keep both employers and employees connected while some businesses may have to go into hibernation during the outbreak.
The program will commence today, 30 March 2020, with the first payments to be received by eligible businesses in the first week of May.
