In the 2021-22 Budget, the Australian Government announced reforms to the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), including the transition to payment in arrears from 2022-23.

CHSP grant agreements will be extended for one year from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023. Providers will transition to payment in arrears and consistent unit prices.

The department has worked closely with a group of CHSP providers, along with ACIL Allen Consulting, to inform the implementation approach.

The CHSP Payment in Arrears and Unit Pricing October update contains detailed information about administrative arrangements and next steps.

The department will host a webinar on 17 November 2021 to update CHSP providers on the 2022-23 extension. Providers will be able to ask questions about the proposed CHSP reforms and impacts on their business. For those unable to attend, the webinar will be recorded and available online. Further details about the webinar will be provided in early November on the Webinars for the aged care sector page on the department’s website.
