Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA), on behalf of the department, is seeking the views of residential aged care management and staff (including nurses and personal care workers) on current procedures and resources related to hearing health, and how any gaps can be filled.
The gap analysis will examine current processes and training for staff in aged care facilities for identifying and managing hearing loss. This will help determine what is needed for hearing loss to be identified early, and for all staff to know how to manage and access support for residents with hearing loss.
If you are interested in contributing to this important project, you can complete a brief survey about these issues. You can also copy and paste the link (https://bit.ly/2OwDYIs) into your browser. We also encourage you to forward this link to other people you work with who may be interested.
Thank you to those who have already expressed their interest in taking part in consultations. An email with the survey link has been sent to you and you still have time to provide your views.
The anonymous survey is open until 11:59pm AEST, Monday 26 April, and will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey participants have the option to register their interest in discussing their views in more detail in a telephone interview.
Please contact hearing-health@ahaconsulting.com.au if you have any questions about the project.
