The Department of Health is aware that some aged care workers are required to have both a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check and an aged care police certificate in certain circumstances, and that this may be causing undue burden on aged care services and workers. In particular, this affects aged care workers working with NDIS participants who obtained their aged care police certificate after 1 February 2021.
To address this matter, the department is working on how these requirements can be simplified so workers are not required to maintain both clearances.
More information about this will be provided shortly.
