The NSW and Commonwealth Protocol to support joint management of a COVID-19 outbreak in a residential aged care facility in NSW  has been updated (Version 6).

The Joint Protocol has been in place since mid-2020 and is a key document that supports the Commonwealth, NSW Government and aged care providers to work together in a coordinated and collaborative way to respond to and manage COVID-19 outbreaks.

The document sets out the roles and responsibilities of all relevant parties, governance structures and escalation procedures. It remains an essential resource in the response to COVID-19 in this vulnerable setting.

The updates to the Joint Protocol reflect the current, changing and maturing roles and responsibilities within residential aged care homes during outbreak management.

The Joint Protocol is available on the NSW Health website.
