Aligning Regulation

The Australian Government is taking a staged approach to align regulation across the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), disability services, aged care and veterans’ care.

Aligning regulation will strengthen quality and safety for participants and consumers. It will also be easier for service providers and workers to deliver services across sectors.

There are various ways to provide input, including written submissions, online surveys, and online workshop participation. We invite consumers, families, carers, workers, providers and the broader community to have their say.

You can view and respond to the Consultation Paper or register for an upcoming workshop, via the Ageing and Aged Care Engagement Hub. Submissions are open until Friday 17 December 2021.

Code of Conduct

The department seeks feedback on a draft Care and Support Sector Code of Conduct, developed in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

Based on the existing NDIS Code, this Code will apply to providers and workers across the aged care, veterans’ care and disability support sectors. It will strengthen the oversight of aged care and veterans’ care workers and help protect consumers from abuse and neglect.

A consultation paper has been developed to seek feedback on the draft Code. We invite you to have your say by responding to the consultation questionnaire online or by writing your own submission to the consultation paper. An Easy Read version of the consultation paper and easy to read questionnaire are also available.

The questionnaire is open until midnight Friday 10 December 2021. Both the questionnaire and consultation paper are available on the Ageing and Aged Care Engagement Hub.
