Voluntary assisted dying
From 1 January 2023, voluntary assisted dying will be available in Queensland.
This letter from Tricia Matthias, Project Executive Director, Voluntary Assisted Dying Implementation, Queensland Health, outlines residential aged care providers’ obligations under the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021.
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Unit can provide support regarding the implementation of these changes. Please contact VAD@health.qld.gov.au
For further information on navigating or delivering voluntary assisted dying, please contact QVAD-Support qvadsupport@health.qld.gov.au
Check in app is no longer required
In Queensland the Check In Qld app is no longer required, meaning aged care homes can:
- remove all Check In Qld app posters and QR codes from your premises, as well as references on websites and social media
- destroy any customer check-in information you’ve collected
- staff can delete the app from their devices.
COVID-19 vaccination certificates can still be accessed via the myGov platform or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.
Visit the Services Australia website for more information about how you can support your staff and customers to access and download their proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
If you have any questions or require more information, please call 13 42 68.
