The Albanese Government is delivering seven more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Victoria, giving even more people access to fast, high-quality, and completely free walk-in healthcare when they need it most.
Six new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Victoria have opened in Carnegie, Pakenham, Sandringham, Somerville, Eltham, and Torquay. The Lilydale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will open next Monday.
The clinics offer walk-in care for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions and patients will be fully bulk billed. The clinics are open seven days a week, operating extended hours.
New data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare shows the Albanese Government’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Victoria are easing pressure on Victorian hospitals. Non-urgent presentations to Victorian emergency departments have dropped by 6.1 per cent.
Nationally, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have seen more than 2.2 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023 and across Victoria there have been over 469,000 presentations.
The Medicare Urgent Care Clinics were selected to operate following a competitive tender process led by local Primary Health Networks.
