The Australian Government is delivering for residents in the Northern Territory with the opening of the Darwin Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.

Located at 8 Osgood Drive, Eaton, the Darwin Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is now open extended hours, seven days a week.

No appointment is needed, patients can walk in and all services are bulk billed.

The highly trained doctors and nurses are equipped to treat a range of conditions and injuries that need urgent attention but aren’t life threatening, including cuts, viral infections, or a sprained ankle.

The Darwin Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will help to ease pressure on the busy Royal Darwin Hospital, where around 42 per cent of presentations in 2024-25 were for semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.

The clinic is part of a network of nine Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across the Northern Territory.

This is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across the country with 4 out of 5 Australians to live within a 20 minutes’ drive from their local clinic.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have already seen more than 3 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023.

This includes over 118,000 presentations to Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Northern Territory. Of these, over one in four were patients aged under 15 years old, more than one in five were on weekends, and one in ten were weekday after hours visits (at or after 5pm).

Building on our commitment to establish 137 clinics across Australia, in the 2026-27 Budget the Government committed an additional $1.8 billion over five years from 2025-26, and $580.2 million a year from 2030-31 to make Medicare Urgent Care Clinics a permanent part of Australia’s health care system.

The Darwin Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is commissioned by the Northern Territory Department of Health.
