Risk management includes evaluation of risks identified in Chapter 2 to determine whether or not specific treatments are required to mitigate harm to human health and safety, or the environment, that may arise from the proposed release. Other risk management considerations required under the Act are also addressed in this chapter. Together, these risk management measures are used to inform the decision-making process and determine licence conditions that may be imposed by the Regulator under the Act. In addition, the roles and responsibilities of other regulators under Australia’s integrated regulatory framework for gene technology are explained.
