Australian Guidelines for drug donations to developing countries- APAC November 1996

APAC oversaw the development by one of its member organisations, the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, of Australian guidelines for drug donations. These guidelines are in accordance with guidelines provided by the World Health Organizations, and cover the selection of drugs to be donated, the quality and self-life of donated drugs, presentation, packaging and labelling, export and transport, and Federal Permits.

Guiding principles for medication management in residential aged care facilities

These Guiding Principles aim to promote safe, quality use of medicines and medication management in Residential Aged Care Facilities. It is intended to assist RACFs to develop, implement, and evaluate locally specific policies and procedures, support those involved in assisting residents, and support residents in the medication management process.

Guiding principles for medication management in the community

These Guiding Principles aim to promote the quality use of medicines and better medication management in the community. They are targeted at paid health and community care service providers supporting older people to manage their medicines in their home and in the community.

They aim to promote the quality use of medicines and better medication management in the community. It is intended that the Guiding Principles will assist service providers develop or evaluate existing policies and procedures, support those staff involved in assisting consumers, manage their medicines and support consumers in managing their medicine(s).

Guiding principles to achieve continuity in medication management

Evidence from research into medication safety indicates that significant patient harm and sub-optimal use of medicines frequently result from the discontinuity that occurs when consumers move between different health care settings and health care providers.

National guidelines to achieve the continuum of quality use of medicines between hospital and community

The following guidelines for ensuring continuity of pharmaceutical care between hospital and community settings have been developed by the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council (APAC), a national body composed of the peak organisations involved in pharmaceutical issues. The guidelines consist of broad principles upon which standard procedures for individual institutions or settings can be based.
