  • The Department of Health is funding up to 100 GP respiratory clinics to help protect Australians. If you think you have symptoms of COVID-19 you can contact a clinic to be assessed and get clinical advice.

  • The National Aged Care Emergency Response (NACER) mobilises experienced aged care staff to care for people in aged care facilities affected by COVID-19. These workers come from areas without community transmission. Initially supporting Victoria, the program can expand to other areas, as needed.

  • Australia’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout is a large and complex operation. It spans the whole country and involves many organisations working together.

  • The Australian Government is expanding eligibility for the Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists and General Practitioners through the Medicare Benefits Schedule (Better Access) initiative for aged care residents. Find out more.

  • The National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) provides clinical and academic leadership in disaster and trauma care. Based in Darwin, it has emergency medical response facilities, provides education and training, and has state-of-the-art research facilities.

  • The National Incident Room (NIR) coordinates national responses to health emergencies, significant events and emerging threats, where there is an impact on human health or health systems.

  • The National Medical Stockpile is a strategic reserve of drugs, vaccines, antidotes and personal protective equipment for use in national health emergencies. We purchase and stockpile these items so Australia is more self-sufficient during an emergency and able to meet high levels of demand.

  • The Victorian Aged Care Response Centre brought together Australian and Victorian Government agencies to manage the response to
COVID-19 in Victorian residential aged care facilities.
