60-day prescriptions patient frequently asked questions – Episode 1

Patient frequently asked questions video with Dr Nicole Higgins – episode 1.

Q: How do I find out if my medicines are eligible for the 60-day scripts?

A: So if you'd like to know what medications are on the list, go to health.gov.au/cheapermedicines.

Q: Who decides if I can get a 60-day script?

A: These medications are there for those stable, chronic medical conditions and it's up to a discussion with you and your GP about which ones are included.

Q: Why are some medicines excluded from the 60-day script when similar ones are not?

A: So not all medications are included on this list and those medications that are excluded, maybe because it's not a regular medication or it's just there for a short-term condition.

Q: My medicine isn't on the current list of eligible medicines. Will that change in the future?

A: Yes, so medications are being added over a 12-month period, and this is going to be a gradual introduction. By September 2024, all of the medications that will be eligible will be available.
